He has been kept under detention and isolation (one-inmate-room) in Sincan Prison since July 2016. He has not been tried yet and he died before first hearing scheduled May 2018, 22 months later than his detention.
According to Toygun Atilla from Hürriyet daily, Teoman Gökçe was arrested on charges of allegedly being a member of terror organisation after the July 15 coup attempt. Teoman Gökçe, who had a heart attack at the evening hours in prison cell, taken to the hospital, could not be rescued.
Teoman Gökçe is the 4th death among the purged or arrested judges and prosecutors following deaths of Seyfettin Yiğit, Mehmet Tosun and Mustafa Erdoğan since July 2016.
Who is Teoman Gökçe?
Teoman GÖKÇE, 49 years old, is a judge and wellknown for his academic law studies.
Teoman GÖKÇE had been a long-time rapporteur judge at the Criminal Chambers of the Court of Cassation. He got master decree at Marmara University and Ph.D. at Selcuk University Institute of Social Sciences with his thesis on “The Legal Qualification of Prosecution Procedures”.
He was elected for 4 years as a member of High Council of Judges and Prosecutors by getting 6.088 votes (2nd best rate) among 11.900 in 2010.
He was married and father of two children.
