Former chief prosecutor and candidate member of High Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HCJP) Mehmet KAYA was sentenced to 12 years in prison on 19 September 2018
He was accused of being member of YARSAV, being candidate member for 2014 HCJP election, performing as chief prosecutor in favor of Gulen Movement.
KAYA denied any accusation and requested his release. However, special terror court sentenced him and ruled continuation of his detention during appeal process.
