5 judge candidates, Fatih Balcan, Uğur Akkaya, Zafer Bilgin, Recep Bulut, Mustafa Çağrı Kağızman were sentenced to more than 8 years in jail over the pretext of terrorism charges on 25 July 2018. Furthermore court ruled continuation of their detention during appeal process apart from Mustafa Çağrı Kağızman.
