An 18-year-old student, the son of a judge and prosecutor who were unjustly dismissed from their professions under Turkey’s post-coup executive decrees (KHK), has died in Kayseri, Turkey.
According to Kronos, A.Y.T. had recently been accepted into Bilkent University’s Department of Economics and was preparing to register for the new academic year.
His father reportedly spent two years in prison following his dismissal and was later acquitted, while legal proceedings against his mother are still ongoing.
The tragedy has once again raised concerns about the devastating impact of the post-coup purges on the families of those affected.
